Unfrozen Winter Winners Enjoy Their Disney Cruise

August 11, 2016

You may remember the precious Hall family who were the winners of our Unfrozen Winner contest earlier this year. They won by submitting this precious snowman photo:

Service Experts Commercial HVAC sent the family on a Disney Cruise and provided airfare for four. Bradley and Rebecca took their two oldest youngsters, Korbin and Brooke, on their Disney Cruise earlier this summer. Korbin and Brooke had never been on a cruise before and Rebecca and Bradley hadn’t been in about 10 years.

“I can’t begin to explain the amount of fun we had and how seriously amazing everything was,” wrote Rebecca. “It was a getaway we could have never done on our own. Disney does cruising right!”

The Hall family was nice enough to give us their itinerary and some snapshots from their amazing trip. If you’re interested in taking a Disney Cruise, or just looking to see what it’s all about, check out the highlights from the Hall’s trip.

Monday

We sailed for two days (Saturday and Sunday) and then docked in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. We reserved a Catamaran and went out with four different families all day. It was Korbin and Brooke’s first time snorkeling and they loved it. We spotted turtles and stingrays – it was probably the coolest experience of the entire cruise!

Tuesday

We traveled from Tortola to St. Thomas in the American Virgin Islands, where we got to snorkel even more, swam, and hung out on the beach. The water was really that turquoise blue you always see in pictures – truly perfect.

Thursday

We sailed all day Wednesday and then ported at Castaway Cay, Disney’s Private Island. The water was very blue and had perfect visibility underneath, so of course we had to do more snorkeling! They hid Mickey Mouses you could hunt for underwater, which was nice because there weren’t as many fish. They also have an 18+ beach which we lounged around on while Korbin and Brooke played with other kids. The island had staff everywhere to keep an eye on the kids so we (Bradley and Rebecca) laid out and enjoyed a daiquiri. It was basically a floating Disneyland!

Aboard

I (Rebecca) get goosebumps reminiscing about everything on the cruise ship – everything was so much fun and unforgettable! They have a “Midship Detective Agency” where you pick the mystery you want to solve and they give you a card so you can record all your clues. When you place the card up to a painting, it actually springs to life – it talks to you, tells you about the mystery you are working to solve, and gives you hints and directions. One mystery lasted two hours because we were running all over the cruise ship.

They are continually showing first-run movies out near the pool so we got to see Big Friendly Giant, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Jungle Book, and Finding Dory. We also got to go on the Aqua Duct, which is a large slide that takes you up and down and swings you out above the boat!

We went Goofy Golfing and Disney Cruises also have games like basketball, fooseball, and a Tween Club called Edge with activities like scavenger hunts and more.

It’s very easy to meet characters on the ship – you only have to wait a couple minutes versus a half-hour or more at Disneyland. We saw about two a day, and one day we hit five in a row! They also have different versions of the characters, such as Captain Mickey, Traditional Mickey, etc.

The stateroom was amazing! Ours came with an ocean view room with a

really big porthole and window seat. Our stateroom was a really good size and all four of us were comfortable and never felt smushed.

Dining

You rotate through three restaurants. Enchanted Garden has cool flower lights on the ceiling that open and close and the colors change on the ceiling during your meal and Royal Court was very elegant and put me in mind of Cinderella. The menu is very gourmet and they have a great selection. Korbin tried everything, including escargot at the Royal Court. (He told us it tasted like dirt!)

Animators Palette is animation-themed and they leave markers on your table so you can illustrate a figure. They give you a tutorial on how to draw a figure, then they take the drawings and at the end of your meal, they animate your drawings on these screens on the wall. It’s completely unexpected! They put them to music and put them in Disney films. Our daughter is our artist so she worked really hard on hers and was so excited – the rest of us weren’t quite as polished

“We can't thank Service Experts enough for this once in a lifetime experience,” Rebecca wrote after they returned from their cruise. “I get emotional when I think about the whole experience. Entering a contest I never thought would go anywhere, learning we were a finalist, the anxious voting round, the big reveal, reading about and picking which cruise, the elation of going and finally experiencing an amazing trip. It was such an amazing time living it all. We are so grateful!”
